Video: How We Got Here
We had a tremendous response to the video we sent out last month! Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your experiences with the Century Link fiber break of 2013. It was an event to remember.
The Rock Island of today has its genesis with this outage. We made this 10-minute video to share our history with you, and some of the stories that catalyzed a movement that has helped over 2,000 people get faster, more reliable Internet and phone service here in the islands.
We hope you enjoy this video and remember how we as a community turned a crisis into a positive solution.
Free Wifi at Ferry Landings
The next time you’re sitting at the Ferry Landing in Friday Harbor or Orcas, log onto our “Access Rock Island” Wifi network and see what you think (Lopez coming soon).
We recently rolled out new wireless hardware that should significantly improve free Wi-Fi at the ferry landings for locals and visitors alike. This new service is brought to you by Rock Island Communications, a wholly-owned subsidy of OPALCO. Log on and enjoy!
We appreciate your ongoing support; we couldn’t do this without you!
All our best,
The Rock Island Team
